Excelsior and PA boards

Nursing Students Online Learning

So I live in MD right now and we got a letter saying we couldn't use excelsior for LPN to RN. It just so happens that we are moving to PA does anyone know if PA board of nursing is allowing students to sit for the N CLEX in pa?

Rules are changing frequently. Best bet is to contact the BIN directly there, and get the information from them.

What worked for someone in the past, does not guarantee that it will be there in the future. Hearing it from the "horse's mouth" is always the best in this case.

I go to PN school in Hanover, PA but live in MD. I wanted to go through RUE or the college network to become a RN. Like you said as of 12/2007 MD will no longer accept Excelsior College as a school in MD. Since both of the previously mentioned programs make you graduate from Excelsior I'm not really sure what to do. In PA there has been no mention of banning them, but I just want to say to you that if you go through them and become licensed in PA and then decide to work in MD ( because of the higher pay rates) MD will not grant you a license to work. Just something to think about.

Yes PA will allow you to sit for boards after excelsior. Just talked with them last week and nothing has changed since then to my knowledge.

Maryland is grandfathering the program. Call them direct. New enrollments are out of luck, but the older ones are grandfathered. I assume that would include all those who graduated out of state by such and such date. They may also allow for other ec grads to come into the state provided they have x months working as an RN.
