Excelsior LPN to RN graduates help

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hi!i am an LPN and I just recently started the RN program through Excelsior. i am in Nursing concepts one and the nursing process is making me CRAZY!!!! I am wondering if I am overstudying it. I do not have a detailed study guide and am afraid I will miss something if I am not thorough but at this rate it will take me FOREVER. I know only 10% of the exam comes from the nursing process BUT the programs foundation is nursing process so I feel I need to know it well. did anyone else feel this way when doing the program. Am I over studying and reading too much into this section?

How long did it take you to complete the program. I am looking at CLEP ing some prereqs has anyone done CLEPS before?

Thanks!!!!:o :trout: (experimenting with the smilies and do not know how to remove them, please disregard the silly things)

I am feeling exactly the same way. I do have the tcn guide...but alot of people say they weren't prepared with that only. NC 1 was the first course I chose to do...and I keep saying Im going to write the exam...and then I decide Im not as ready as I could be..then I look back and think I know it...then I think Im remembering somthing Canadian (Im from Ontario)...the I think I am over studying..aaargh!!

Hmmm...sorry I wasnt much help, but I can relate!

I am preparing for the NC 3 test. I felt very unprepared for NC1 but passed with a B. I didn't feel like my text bok prepared me at all and am trying to find a better process to prepare for my next test. I am considering buying the notes from ebay and studying that way. Anybody have any suggestions????

Dear God, you guys are scaring me. I am preparing to take my LPN NCLEX for Washington, then am going full bore into Excelsior. I talked with a RN at the hospital where I did clinicals and she said the hardest part of the program was the senarios at the end, I know this doesn't help much with your current problem, but I'm wondering if you have any information on that front? Are you guys happy so far with the program? Is it what you expected, better or worse? Not much can be worse than Bates nursing program though... Good luck on your tests. I would think after the first 2 you would have an idea of how they do the tests though... sending you all happy thoughts.

yeah - I think alot of my problem is just never having done an exam yet; I dont know what they are like. As for the CPNE, I have a while to go too, but am trying to pick up everything I can from this site, the yahoo groups, and hoping to be working again (Ive been at home with my son) as an LPN - to pick up as much as I can watching, or shadowing if anyone lets me.

don't let me scare you. I rather expected something like this with independent learning. We are talking Nursing process UGHHH how much fun can that be? i think once I get this down the rest will be less stressful. Nursing process is one of those things like english you use it every day but they want you to break it down into little bits and analyze it. YUCK. when you think about it you say oh yeah I do that all the time but why do they have to word it like that? But the nursing process is used throughout the program so you ned a good firm understanding. that is what I am attempting to do now is get that firm understanding but not knowing how much is too much information or not enough.

Are you guys working out of the recommended texts from excelsior or are you using others in addition? I am using wilkinson and Kozier for nursing process. Any other suggestions?
