Excelsior going to multiple choice exams?

Please tell me this is not true. Someone in one of the internet nursing groups I am a member of has heard (source unknown to me) that Excelsior/Prometric will switching the format of their exams to a fill-in-the-blank format. I've had a brief look at Excelsior's website, but didn't see anything mentioned about changing the format. I did hear from another person who was in contact with Prometric. Prometric is apparently stating that Excelsior is 'pulling their old tests and replacing them with new ones', and 'those scheduled after Sept 30 will have to be rescheduled'. Anywho, I'll look more later, but I'm just curious if you guys/gals have heard anything.

I've heard that they are gradually moving towards more fill in the blank tests, since the nclex has been moving in that direction as well. It won't be all fill in the blanks, just some.

I hadn't heard the date -- that's more incentive for me to get done really quick!

Hi there!

This has been a discussion on one of those Yahoo groups. One member finally called EC and they said NO, they are not going to the fill in the blank answers.

I thought that they usually change the content guides/ tests on Oct 1 every year. I haven't heard anything other than that. Hope it helps!

:)

Yes- they are only updating their content guides like they do every year. It's just a reminder to make sure you print out the new content guides and don't use the old ones.

Hmmmm.... I wonder where I did hear that then because this is the only place I've come other than the Excelsior pages in the past year, and actually I only re-appeared here a week or so ago. Maybe I was confused with the actual nclex. Confusion is normal for me :) sorry if I was perpetuating a rumor but I could have sworn I 'heard' that and like I said, about the only place I've spent any significant time was on the excelsior boards.
