I am taking NC1 now and hopefully will take my test in a few weeks. What is the usual wait time for a test date? Are the exams comparable to the practice exam at the end of the study guides? Has anyone taken the Life Span or Sociology exams? Any information I can get would be greatly appreciated.
I am also wondering what to expect for the final clinical exam. Would anyone be able to tell me the wait time for the clinical date once you register?
Thanks for your help!!

It depends on where you are testing.
For me, the closest place is a 100 minute drive, the next closest about 105 -- that one is split into two centers (registration is separate at each one) and another one in Baltimore city that I could probably get to inside of 2 hours depending on what time of day it is.
At times at one or the other place I have been able to schedule a test date inside 3 days, and have tested before getting my letter of authorization to test (that's 3 days after the 2 day wait to be able to register for the test, as it takes a day or two to process the payment and notify Prometic that you are able to test) but usually for me it has been 1-2 weeks to find a date and time that coincide with my days off.
I just paid for my last exam -- yahoo! And can't wait until it shows up that I can register for the test so I can see what dates are available. Course I'm having surgery in the next few weeks too so not sure I'll be able to find a date that will mesh with my schedule but the sooner I can do it the sooner I get to hurry up and wait for the CPNE! For that one I hear it can be 4-6 months after being notified you are eligible (which is about a month after your last test as long as you are within 9 credits of your general stuff) but if you get on a waiting list it could be much sooner. Depends on where you want to test, largely. They are supposed to post on the excelsior board any day now what the average available date is available for the various centers based on if you are currently about to schedule your CPNE. They mentioned it earlier in the week but as of a few hours ago it wasn't there. Guess that's my next stop!

I am wondering if you liked taking your classes with Excelsior? I want to go on for my BSN, but, as I understand Excelsior no longers allow the bridge from a LPN role into the BSN. Any feedback you can offer would be greatly appreicated.
You may also email me at [email protected] ... thanx in advance.

I am not 100% sure about the bridge from LPN to BSN. As I understand it you go for your ADN then onto BSN though you can go straight for your MSN. I have taken 3 tests through EC so far. They are comprable to the practice tests but much larger. Not easy but very doable. Just know what is on your excelsior content guide and you will do just fine. I particularly like that I can pay as I go while taking the prereqs and NC1 and 2. They also have payment plans for the actual enrollment. I am very happy with the program.
