I will be approaching FCCA next month and then on to CPNE. If anyone has takenCPNE workshop through excelsior or Sherri Taylors please share what you thought about them and your experience. Ive heard about both, just not in great detail... Thanks

A friend of mine went to Sheri's and wasn't very impressed. She was expecting to practice all areas of care and labs but spent most of the time hearing a lecture. The class was over 25 students and she knew it wound be difficult to get individual attention. She then decided to attend a workshop in Miami that was all hands on. She had a totally different experience. The class was less than 10 students and was able practiced everything on the itinerary. She said she was critiqued on all areas of care, labs and care plans. She passed the CPNE in May at Utica. I recently became CPNE eligible and planning on attending Christy's workshop and well as her online care plan class. I'm hoping to test by November..looking forward to finishing once and for all.

Who is Christy? Where does she hold her workshops?

Christy Rodriguez is a former excelsior college student who teaches students how to pass the cpne. I'm going to do her bootcamp and online careplan class cause I have heard nothing but great things. She's in miami but travels from time to time..I know she will be in Nashville this weekend.

Well, this is an old thread but I'll chime in. I took Sherri's workshop and I am now an RN with 2+ years under my belt in an ICU stepdown unit. I'm also 6 mo's from finishing my FNP. I passed the CPNE on first try. Only 2 of us out of 8 passed. I can't say it was because of Sherri's workshop, I also can't say it wasn't. It helped to walk through the rehearsals. I can say without a doubt use Excelsiors materials and know what THEY say to know. Not what others say you need to know. Their material made the difference and honestly, it's a little bit of a crap shoot with the CPNE. I had to have the proctor save me twice b/c my examiner on two occasions said I didn't pass a certain portion. She was wrong on both accounts. You will have examiners that are nit picky on things they think are their strong suit. You have no idea what that will be. The CPNE can be one of the most terrifying exams you'll ever do but if you have direct patient care experience AND you practice Excelsior's test you will pass. Know their material and what you are to be graded on, it may save you. The examiners are NOT experts in the test..the head proctor (or whatever they are called) are more knowledgeable about the test. I thought Sherri's workshop was enough for me at the time. Now, I can say she really didn't know anymore than I do now but it helped. On the negative side she is traditional brick & mortar so she has never taken the test. On the positive side she does a thorough job building a database of experiences of students AFTER the test.

Anybody taken cpne with Sheri Taylor recently? Anybody planing to take her work shop next month?

she's good but not worth 276 dollars for 10 care plans. I did her bootcamp workshop and it was the best feedback I got . But didnt think it was work 276 dollars. I had to try everything out there , no money spared. And yes,the discrimination and racism is rampand in the nursing field. It's late 50/60's white east coast women. If you dont have a western name like " Nancy" or Tiffany they're not going to nudge you to give you clues as to forgetting an AOC or including things you forgot. They want you to pass and try to put you at ease, but half of the people didn't even get into the room for the PCS
