I just took the Humanities CLEP last week. I studied using Comex systems "Review for the CLEP General Humanities Examination" that I got off Amazon Marketplace. My particular book came with 1/2 the answers circled which was frustrating, but I made it work. In my opinion, this was not enough. I also paid for a one month trial membership in SpeedyPrep ($10 for 1st month, made sure to cancel before the $25/month kicked in). I also found this helpful, but wouldn't have been enough by itself. I have some pretty reasonable personal background in music theory and history and art history that were invaluable.

I thought I did pretty well on this exam and I did score 74/80 (50 is passing). This will finish up my general ed requirements (other than Statistics that will finish in about a month). I don't have the specifics on Excelsior's recent change in acceptance of credit by exam, mainly because it isn't going to affect me, I have now finished all the non-nursing credit by exam that I need. My understanding is that it does not affect CLEP or DSST.

I wound recommend taking the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP test. It is 6 credits and all you have to do is read a passage and answer questions related to what you read. There is no way to study since you don't know what poems or literature will be on the test. Just be mindful of the time because it goes by quickly. You can sign up on the CLEP website and take it at a local college and for 6 credits it's worth it.

After I signed up for Humanities CLEP, I heard about how the Analyzing Literature was probably a better choice, but I had already gotten approval and registered so I went ahead and gave it the effort. Either would have fulfilled my requirements, but I hear Analyzing Literature probably would have required less studying and memorizing.

Thanks a million guys. Appreciate all the most valuable advice. Will try analyzing literature to fufill my humaities credit. Thanks!!!
