Excelsior in Alabama

Nursing Students Excelsior

So there has been some chatter on the facebook that Alabama is no longer allowing EC grads to sit for Boards due to the supposed lack of clinical time. Now, I work in GA but I live right across the river in Alabama. On EC's site it states that AL is similar to GA in their policy as it is a case by case basis and then determine clinical necessity. As of right now, that is a no go for AL apparently. I am now very concerned that due to my address being in AL I will not be able to sit for Boards.

Will be contacting EC, the GA, and AL BON tomorrow. Anybody here have any advice or knowledge to this?

Just because your address is in AL, that does not prevent you from taking the NCLEX under another state's board of nursing. And you can physically take the exam in any Pearson place nationwide. Getting the AL license by endorsement will be the trick, you'll be licensed in whichever state under whose board you test.

I read all that stuff on Facebook, it really reminds me of when GA put on the brakes after allowing endorsements for so many years. I think it caught a lot of students by surprise. But as a paramedic, I would not have expected to be granted licensure by exam in Alabama in the first place. Endorsement later, perhaps.
