Excelsior College or College Network

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

I am eager to find an LPN to RN program. I obtained information on both Excelsior College:uhoh3: and College Network. It appears that the transition maybe easier with Excelsior College but I am not sure. Does anyone know which would be a better choice. LPN for 1 year and ready to move on.

i would recommend to anyone taking any courses from an online college or university to double check with your state licensing to make sure it is ok. i was told the nevada state nursing that alot of these online places are trying to scam. just double check.

if this is new to anyone, then you need to due further research and check with your state nursing licensing department.

as far as i know there is only 3 states that do not accept ec and nevada is not one of them...they might have stipulations on their grads though...

i just called the Nevada Board of Nursing directly. found the number at

http://www.nursingboard.state.nv.us/edu/apprschl.htm. I talked to a lady names Kris. She said no, EC is not approved. I also checked with my councelor at UNLV and she also said no, not approved.

there are ec grads here that transfer there to and from nevada all the time. unless these rules have changed in the last few days then someone is pulling your leg here. the nevada bon number is not listed on this website just universities and i have no idea why you would ask your counselor she probably don't even know what ec is and should only be concerned with her own schools board approval. the 3 states that do not appprove ec are

california

ilinois

maryland

there are several that have stipulations....

washiington

florida

georgia

i probably have missed some but you get it....

You can sit for the state boards in Nevada if you do EC's program. Make sure you are calling the Nevada State Board of Nursing and speaking to someone who knows what they're talking about.

Colorado is another state that has additional requirements for EC.

all i can do is report what i have been told by the Nevada Board of Nursing. Sorry, not trying to argue. Just state what i have been told by many here in Nevada. Maybe Nevada has become harder. You could also ask the Nevada Board of Nursing yourself.

Had my nurse manager call Hellen Vos who sits on the Nevada Board of Nursing. She was also told that EC students are not being accepted. So if anyone has anymore questions. please contact them yourselves. they are very friendly and willing to answer any questions.

Hey, heres something maybe in regards to what you are talking about with extra hours. i am trying to post the Nevada Board Meeting notes. It talks about requiring an extra 810 of supervised hours for EC students. I will get back to you all.

Is there anyone out there that took an RN program, failed and then went to Excelsior. If so, please tell me what your experience was like. Did they except any of your prior nursing school credits and how long did it take you to finish the program. Thank you.

Are you looking into any particular RN online nursing. I am interested in college network but I after reading some of the posts I'm a bit more confused.
