Has anyone completed this? Got any good input for me before I start in.

Hi Nascar nurse -

Haven't completed it, but I'm working on it. I have taken the scenic route through college. I crammed two years of a college education into a short nine years :) (not all at EC) and received the ASN in 12/05.

Now that I'm working as a nurse, I'm back in the BSN program. Have completed a ton of the general education requirements and the only nursing requirements remaining for me are Research in Nursing, the nursing electives, and then all of the performance/practicum/capstone-type stuff. Still also have to take Ethics and Expository Writing.

Anyway, don't know how much advice I can offer at this point, but send me a PM or email and we can talk!

Good luck!

Eric

Hi Eric. Thanks for the reply. So many ASN students, very few Excelsior BSN students. This kinda makes me nervous in of itself! :uhoh3:

When I completed the ASN, I used all Excelsior exams for the pre-reqs. Now after doing some research, I would like to think about some CLEP exams for the BSN pre-reqs (they look so much cheaper!). Do you have any history with these? Any idea of which CLEPs I can take to meet pre-req requirements?

Thanks for your help. I decided to post here rather than PM you in case someone else was lurking and needed the same answers.

clep anything you can :). i found the best deal on an asn to bsn was at thomas edison college in new jersey. it's nln accredited as well. you might want to check them out. if i were to pursue a bsn, that's where i'd do it.

Thanks for the input. I looked this up. Maybe I am reading something wrong, but looks as if it is $300+/credit hour for non-New Jersey resident. The program looks good, but to expensive for me. What can I say - I am cheap!

i guess it would depend on how many classes you had to take, etc. also, i'm not sure what they charge for online classes. last i checked with excelsior, rn to bsn was around 10k, by my recollection. however, i may be wrong.

it's a matter of shopping for the best deal, and how much of it your employer pays. if the employer will pay for all of it, cost isn't much of an issue.

i'm asking my employer to pay 32k for my mba :).
