Excelsior ASN to BSN at traditional college

Published

I am currently enrolled and completing Excelsior College LPN-RN degree. All A's so far including A&P and Micro. Here's my question.

Has anyone completed an ASN degree with Excelsior and then gone on to BSN or MSN at a traditional college?

Also, one other question - has anyone had trouble getting a job in MN with ASN /Excelsior College...shouldn't be a problem since I work with a few RN's with degree from Excelsior and I called BON in MN but just wanted any feedback you may have.

I know many people have gotten an asn from excelsior and then bsn elsewhere. However mostly other online programs. How did you get an A in micro ? :) studying for it now. Noone has trouble getting a job. Some have seen Excelsior as a plus really I've heard. Search an old thread called "Excelsior grads - where are they now? Really good posts over 200 comments

Thanks for the advice. I have a routine for all exams. I use the excelsior study guide. I take practice exams first and then I break down which sections I need work on. Then I look at what percentage of each section will be on the exam ( it lists it in the study guide). I read each chapter on the outline first then I go back through the outline and take notes. I then study my notes, the practice exams at the end. Also, have a method for taking exams which works for me. I got an A on A&P too but that one was really hard, harder than micro. Thanks again for your advice.

Wow that's great! I heard a&p was hard. Im taking that next. its good you've found something that works for you. Im still kind of trying to find some sort of system best for me. im confused bc you said you take the practice exams first and then you said you take them at the end? unless you meant one in the beginning and one in the end?

I study the practice exams no take them again ....I usually don't take them twice. However on A&P I took them both in the beginning...than I paid again and called advisor to get them reset so I could take them again....expensive and maybe overkill but again A&P was very hard. If you need any other advice just let me know. I have been excelsior student since 2000.....I had taken almost all nursing exams and micro, a&p etc. now have to retake everything....oh well.
