Everything but the TEAS exam...

Published

So I've completed all of my BSN prerequisites and I just cannot score high enough on the TEAS exam to save my life. I've bought and studied the manuals, but I keep making low scores. I've heard of other exams that can be taken for other schools, but I am just so blown after taking that exam for the third try. I'm considering the ADN track since my scores will be accepted, but I was so focused on getting into a BSN. Do you think I should keep trying, try another exam like the HESI, or just try to start a ADN/ASN?

What kind of score did you get on the TEAS? Have you met the cap on how many times you can take it for the school you're trying to enroll in? How long did you study prior to taking the TEAS?

Sorry I know it's a lot of questions, but I am nearing the end of my pre-reqs and am starting preparations now to take the TEAS in late spring. I should have enough time between now and then to take it twice in case the first time I don't make 90%+ (which is my goal).

As far as going for your BSN vs ADN? that's a personal preference. I plan on going after my ADN first, then taking online courses through WGU to obtain my BSN, however every school is set up differently on how long it would take for you to obtain your BSN and it might be worth your while to just go straight to BSN to begin with.

Good luck to you and keep your chin up! You can do this!!!

i agree with krrbrr.

you could always do associates then RN to BSN. Not sure what state you're in but BSN programs could be hard to get into especially when as a transfer student. going directly into BSN programs could be competitive.

It may take a year or so longer doing adn first then RN to BSN.

krrbrr,

how does online RN to BSN work? do you physically have to be in the same state as the online school program in order to do the program?

Is it all online and no physical clinical experience?

This. I can't advise you not knowing any of the pertinent info. Plus I know in my area it is easier to get into a BSN program than an ASN program. They are more competitive. You also have to see if there is a cap on how many times you can take it. We could only take it twice.

I'm not 100% positive on this, maybe every state is different? I do know for instance with WGU if I do a search for "WGU Washington" it will pull up a site specific to what programs are offered here, so that might be an option for you. There's an entire forum on here as well dedicated to the online schools so it might be a good question to ask there as well. I just happen to know of previous nursing students from my school whose pre-req's are able to transfer over to WGU with no issue and my husband has taken courses from WGU before as well and was extremely satisfied with them (non healthcare degree).

It's definitely worth looking up!
