Is anyone attending the RN program at Everest? I am currently taking BIO 201 and MATH 121 @ GCC, thinking about enrolling at Everest this summer though. I'd like to hear about your experience. Thanks :)

lovedk, did you start the program at Everest? If so, how is it? I am attending the January information session and was wanting some information on how you are liking the program. Thanks!
Yes, I started in July of 2010. and we graduate in July of 2012. i absolutely love it! the teacher get to know you and do their best to help you pass. there has been times where im freaking thinking im going to fail. and they work with you to better help you learn the matierial. they try to make the burden easier on us sometimes by not scheduling ALL our tests or midterms in one week, they are awsome. i highly recommend everest. at every clinical rotation the nurses just say how much we know and surprised they are at how eager we are to learn more.
thank you for replying. i was wondering what the schedule is like, is it mon-fri all day? any night classes? i'm nervous about the hesi a2 test since it has a&p and i have yet to take that class. is it really competitive to get in? (highest hesi scores only?) what are your class sizes? thank you for any info you can give me.
your schedule will depend on how many classes you are taking each quarter. so if you come in with little or no pre-reqs, expect to have a big workload. usually classes are mondays and tuesdays. and sometimes lab the other days until you have clinical. there are no night classes, and no online nursing classes. and if you get the hesi entrance exam practice book and memorize everything in there you should be fine. they also look at your past grades and gpa. and to be honest i do not know how hard it is to get in. i was the first to be accepted out of my class and so i was told that the descision was unanymous amongst the people. our class sizes usually start pretty big, we had 32 in our class. and we were down to 16 at one point, now at 21 because some upper classmen joined us. but expect to lose half the class. its very stressful, just as you might have heard about nursing school. some concept applies here. and im glad to help, let me know if you have anymore questions. i hope to meet you in jan :)
Thank you for all your information! I am looking forward to the information session in January and hope to start in April. If I have any other questions I'll be sure to ask!
yay! i cant wait im excited for you. just ask for dianna angulo and il surely be on campus but only till july :)
Sounds good! I have an appt tomorrow with financial aid. When do clinicals start? The first quarter I only have to take A&P. Is that 1 day or 2? They don't have the schedule done yet so not sure what day I would be on campus yet. How exciting for you! July will be before you know it!! Where have you been doing your clinicals?
yeah the schedule should be out within the next 2 weeks. but no later. i actually did not take A&P at everest so i dont know. however i have known that you take lecture and lab for A&P, but i dont know much plus they changed the circiculum (sp?) since i started, before it used to be A&P and fundamentals together. your clinicals will probably be like in july, and you will start with something light. usually its something like healthsouth or good sam rehab. iv had my clinicals for these: fundamentals=good sam rehab, medsurg1=JCL north mountain, medsurg2=thunderbird, L&D=del webb, pediatrics=hacienda, psych=aurora, critical care= thunderbird, and i will start my preceptor in late april at good sam for L&D.
but as a new new student plan on having class almost everyday atleast. and starting early and finishing late. the days start getting shorter as you start with clinicals, like now us seniors only have class (not counting clinicals) mondays and tuesdays and we start ar 1pm. but it also depends how many classes you transfered in. because if your taking all your gen eds with us then you will always have a big load. but i transfered in everything except microbiology.
Dianna, thanks for letting me know. I don't have to take any of the English's, math or pchy. I am trasnfering 16 credits. I have a friend that works in L&D at D.W. so that would be neat to do clinicals there. I got my ID yesterday so am ready to go. Orientation is on the 12th. I am excited and nervous. Can't wait!!
