Ever burned a bridge?

Just wondering if any of you will admit to ever burning a bridge with an employer? Did you feel bad, but really believe you were doing the right thing?

Thanks for your honesty!!

I burned one bridge and blew it out like an atomic bomb!!! I was working case management on a part time basis. My husband had unexpected passed away and overnight I became a single parent with 2 kids the youngest being 9. My case load was 25 which was a f/t load as it was. When I came back from my absence/bereavement leave of 2 weeks I walked to my doorstep to find an additional 20 new cases to my already f/t load. Reminding myself I was P/T and in no way wanted this additional load in light of my situation at the time I went in to discuss with my NEW manager (non-nurse at that lol). Her exact words were "Look it's been 2 weeks, your husband is dead, get over it!" I blew my stack, told her exactly where and how to put it, walked out and never looked back. Fortunately when it has come up I give a short sweet explanation and it has never held me back. I am also one who believes never burn your bridges but there is always a limit to sticking to that belief. Sometimes you do what you gotta do.
