Ever took a position base on money or distance etc. knowing it was a mistake but did it anyway? If so, what happened?

Specializes in ICU, OR.

YES. I turned down a DREAM job so that I could work close to home and for more money. I made this decision for my family. However, I should have made a decision for myself at that time. I am now job hunting again and will not make that decision again!

I accepted a job that I knew beforehand would be a big mistake. Why? I was a new graduate and I had applied to over 200 positions, I needed an income and this job was the only one that called me back to hire me- very quickly at that too. The red flags were all there. Now I am trying to transfer and it has not been as easy as I thought, especially coming from a unit that isn't considered "real nursing" by some people. Just tired of the stress, anxiety and not having a life. I'll take a part-time position if I can.
