Just wanted to start a thread for spring applicants and can post TEAS scores if desired. I got a 79.3 on my first attempt and didn't get in for winter. I am stuck trying to decide if I should retake for spring. They only take the second score so its a gamble if I happen to score lower. Anyone else in a similar situation?
Heidieh-
I know you can do this-- I BELIEVE IN YOU!! :) :) I hope you are applying to other schools. If your GPA is high you will get in somewhere. Not every school uses the TEAS and luckily we have a decent number of schools in W. WA that you can apply to. It's hard not to feel defeated but I promise you didn't make it this far for nothing. Hang in there and and don't give up!!
Heidi, this is only the second quarter that Skagit is using the teas, so the information isn't as good as far as who got what in order to get in. The lowest score they took this quarter was an 80 I believe... At least out of every one I know who applied. They have their orientation tomorrow and I'm sure I'll hear more. I do know that if you get wait listed, then you are guaranteed a spot the next time, but they only have 2 admission quarters. My friend applied in the fall with a 76, which was the first quarter they used teas, and got wait listed, so he'll be going this quarter. I think it wouldn't hurt to take the teas again though, since with that school they use the highest of the two scores if you've only taken it twice. After that they begin to use the most recent. Good luck and study the English and writing portions as they are generally the hardest.
Ame, I'm not going to lie, I'm so bummed not to have a potential carpool buddy, but I hope everything works out for you. Do you already know where you'll be moving? if to Jacksonville, I can help you figure out what you'll need to apply to their program. That's where I moved from.
Yea we are going back to Jacksonville. I've been looking at FSCJ's program so any info you have would be great!
Heidi, Yes. I did.
AME:
You will need 4 things in order to apply to the RN associate's program:
1 GPA of 2.0 over all.
2 HESI Test (like TEAS, just different company)
3 AHA CPR for adult, child and infant.
4 At least 11 credits from the prerequisites by the time you submit you application. The rest of the credits will need to be completed by the time you are accepted and enrolled in your first quarter.
Prerequisite Classes (11 credits):
(BSC 2085C) A&P I with Lab (4 Credits)
(BSC 2086C) A&P II with Lab (4 Credits)
(CHM 1020) Chemistry - no lab required (3 Credits)
(MAC 1105) College Algebra or higher (3 Credits)
(MCB 2010C) Microbiology with Lab (4 Credits)
You will also need to complete the general ed classes before you are able to graduate. These classes can be done while you are enrolled in the program, but should be completed either before, during the summers, or after your enrollment, as the program is very stringent.
General Education Classes (30 Credits)
1 Humanities - 3 Credits: there are a lot to choose from, and one of your prerequisites from here will likely cover it.
(ENC 1101 or ENC 1101C) English 1101C is a 4 credit class rather than a 3 credit one because it's more writing intensive.
(DEP 2004) Human Growth and Development, this is the same thing as Psych 200 here in Washington
(PSY 1012) General Psychology, this is the same thing as Psych 100 here in Washington.
I actually took a lot of these classes at FSCJ and they transferred to both SVC and EvCC without any problems. I do here that some schools on the east coast count quarter credit classes differently than semester credit classes. I suppose this makes some sense considering a semester is 16 weeks long and a quarter can be anywhere from as little as 9 but only ever up to 12 weeks long. I've been looking at UW and it's the same thing with them.
If you were able to apply to the Everett program, then I'm sure you already have 7 of the 9 classes out of the way. The only ones I think you might have to take, and only in order to graduate are: (1) Psych 100 (I don't know if you have to take this in order to take Psych 200, but if so then I'm sure that one more thing off your list); and (2) Humanities - I can't be sure but I think that cultural anthropology might cover it.
Some of the classes that were required way back 13 years ago when I went was (1) Sociology - possibly already taken if applied to Everett, (2) Statistics, (3) Public Speaking - why? I have no clue, interpersonal is a much better class.
Hello!! I've looked through this thread before and I'm a fall 2015 hopeful (I haven't recieved a letter, but several w/lower TEAS scores than mine are in, so I'm cautiously optimistic). Anyways, those of you who did make it in the Spring... how was it??? Awesome? Amazing? Exciting? Scary? All the above? Any tips for new comers??? Thanks in advance !!!
