Evacuation Drill

Specialties School

WE are having our first ever evacuation drill today. We are evacuating to the field house (the giant gym). Me and my aide are to report to the athletic office. I am bringing my med cart, my emergency bag, and a printout of all my med orders. Anything else I should bring? Has anyone else done an evacuation drill? I am at a high school with about 1600 people.

At my school all I am supposed to take is the emergency box. It contains no meds but does have a list of each student and their medical needs. All meds and paperwork are left in the office. This worries me but have no way to carry it all out. Any ideas?

I have a super strong tote bag (from IKEA) that I throw my "big binder" (all emergency treatment forms) in. I also have three different "emergency" bags that hang on the wall. One for Epi, One for MDIs and one for Glucagon. They are notebook sized and slide in nicely.

I carry that bag and pull and pull behind me a rolling tote that holds the other stuff.

Which is all well and good when I am in my office for the fire drill.......

if I am in another part of the building, I am screwed!

Fire Dept stands by with the ambulance for drill for any evacuation.

I don't bring out other meds unless we know it is an extended evac (bomb scare) and then I push my rolling med cart.

I look like a bag lady by the time I am done getting to the command post!
