Hey folks,
I don't know if any of you have been following my certain "dis-satisfaction" with my job, etc. Well....I've been doing a ton of research...and I've seriously decided to go back and do the Ultrasound Tech. thing. The tech. school where I obtained my ADN...has a sonography program.....I am so excited.....the hours may be better, the pay is the same or better, I can still be in the medical field , (which I love), I can still have interactions with patients...but then they can get up and leave..LOL..that sounds really mean...but right now....on my med/surg unit...I am so tired and depressed about taking care of the same people all the time...we had five patients that were discharged and re-admitted within a few days...crazy! I love patients...and I'm not trying to sound bitter by any means...but I just think the US tech. thing rocks!!! I have all the generals complete already..and it says that persons with a ADN , bachelors, etc....can qualify for advanced placement..which is cool because I guess the waiting list for the program is really long. Going back to school and kind of starting over again scares me...but I'm only 26...what do I have to lose..u know? The only other thing that frightens me is the internship....it state's that you must be willing to relocate for the internship.....eek. I am married, have a house, etc....how can I relocate??? Well..I'm seriously going to look into it.... For some reason.....I feel excited and renewed.... My husband supports me..yet kind of thinks I'm crazy....he tells me that I have a degree already..I should just be happy...well..you know what..I'm not completely happy...I know there is more...actually different opportunities out there for me...why can't I try it? What do you all think???? I love patients, love technical stuff, etc...sounds like a good match for me??? OK..I'm off to bed...need to get plenty of rest to keep the nasty Influenza bug away....it's just hit in our area...eek. Ok...luv you guys....

GO FOR IT!!! I have a degree in automobile mechanics. YES I can work on cars. I know what they are talking about and I can and have done engine repair, complete brake jobs, including replacing the steel brake lines. I put Brake pads on my husband's truck the weekend BEFORE I started my Nusing classes on Monday. I fixed my DH truck, just yesterday. The front rt. tire was thumping. I drove it through town in a funeral procession the day before, with it thumping EVERY time the wheel moved.
Turned out that someone had STLOEN 3 lugnuts off that tire. He took one off from each of the other three and instant fix!! I did a minor tune-up on my van before we went to a wedding in Oct. Knowing how to work on your own cars, cuts WAY down on repair expenses. However, I do know my limits. I need a new altenator for my van, but I am too small to reach it. I stand 5'5" tall and weigh 140lbs.
When I get frustrated, I like to work with my hands. It really helps me to relax.
I told my DH just the other day that I will NEVER stop learning. I have a fear of getting Alzheimer's [sp?]. So I figure if I keep learning, I won't get it. As the old saying goes, "use it or lose it."
Keep us posted!
