Read a Comcast article about conjoined twins to undergo very extensive surgery, with multiple organ involvement from diaphram to pelvis. After inital surgery, many more will be necessary over the years, in order to provide them with the highest quality of life.
They were born in Los Angeles County General Hospital, to Mexican parents who were here on tourist's visas. What a coincidence, heh? Here they are all accidently born in a government funded hospital, and now who is footing the bills for this? And there is no way the parents will return to Mexico to work and await the outcome. No, they too need a place to live, food, etc. Should we bill the Mexican Government? Should the girls be allowed to remain here as citizens, or just return for surgery? Should we tell the parents, "Nice try, but there are hospitals in Mexico."?
Why am I being so cranky about this?
