Published

Hi I'm new to being a member on this site but need help desperately.

I'm writing a ethical dilemma paper on the use of erythromycin eye ointment for newborns.

should it be mandatory. My problem is I don't know how to set the paper up. Do I make up a case study than address that or what? Please help.

I have have peer reiewed articles to based my alternatives choices on. I just can't seem to start the paper off.

What semester are you? Is this for graduate level?

Hi Esme12, Currently I'm in my last semester of my RN undergraduate program.

Let me clarify more. The part I have difficulty with is starting off. The paper itself is not hard to do and is only 5 pages. I am confused with 1) Do I start off with a case study and and give the right vs wrong set up or 2) Do I give a Question set up...(ex. Is topic A ethical right/wrong ...with me taking a side) and I give supporting data based on my side I choose.

First you need to present the issue - introduce e-mycin, explain why it's used, give the history of its use. Then explain the concerns and criticisms and arguments against routine use. Provide data for each side, then take a position, giving your rationale.

It would make a good subject for a persuasive paper, but I guess I'm not seeing how it can be presented as an ethical dilemma. Did you choose that subject for your ethical dilemma, or was it chosen for you?

What two (or more) nursing ethics are at odds in this situation?

Is it constitutional to mandate something that isn't 100% necessary?
