ethical delemma(sp?)

Published

I am in the midst of an ethical self battle...I told my boss (CEO of the hospital) last year that I would stay until next licensure inspection which will be in Marc/April. I will graduate next Friday (17th) with my ADN/RN. Now my delemma...I have been offered a position 25 minutes closer to home and $3.00 more an hour...(sigh) I know what I SHOULD do:uhoh21: ...but...What would YOU do?:uhoh21:

I think some of you are missing a big question? What is the facility that is willing to pay you $3 more per hour going to be like? The GRASS IS NOT ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE! Dont forget what do they want you to do for $3 more per hour. How much turn over do they have, how many patients are you responsible for, are you putting your brand new license at risk. I think nurses now need to be very careful where they work. Are you dissatisfied where you currently work? There is much more to consider than just keeping your word.

I know the "grass is not always greener" but I am in an EMS supervisory position, transitioning into nursing. The position I was offered is one in an ED closer to home and doing nursing care...not that there is anything wrong with EMS(been doing it for 24 years and lovin' it):p
