Hi All,
I am a career changer - looking to leave marketing and enter the world of nursing. I have a BA degree already but I don't think I'll be doing an Accelerated BSN program (due to finances and not being able to work during the accelerated BSN program). So, I'm looking to enter Essex County College's evening RN program.
Is there anyone presently in it? I read somewhere that you'll be in class fromo 5:30 until 11 or so..and clinicals on the weekend.
Anyone who is presently enrolled, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I plan on taking a trip this week when I register. I am pretty familiar with the job requirements and I actually attended a semester at ECC after HS. I guess I will need to inquire about what classes will be available in the evening. Is the LPN certificate program something to take vs the associate degree? I want to go into Nurse Anesthesia school in the future.

Yeah going up there and asking the department questions would be best for you. I dont know anything about the LPN program but I see on the website: http://www.essex.edu/divisions/nursing/ that there is a LPN certificate program that has part time night classes. While the RN program is a full time program that has either night or day classes. You can only either do a day program or a night one but not both. Hope this helps you.
I have Daniel L. Strand as my A&P I teacher..who incidentally, didn't show up for the first day of class!! Anyone know anything about him? I'll find out about him myself on the 2nd day of class..how do you not show up for the first day?!?! I got his name after calling the Bio department.
Anyway, I couldn't find him on the school's website..but I did find him on ratemyprofessors.com and this is what I found:
This professor is useless. he doesn't know what he's talkin about, and he doesn't know how to teach! Take him at your own risk. You'll pass the class, but you won't learn anything from him.
Just great!

I believe in learning for yourself if the teacher is good or not. Some people are kinda mean when rating on that website. Just try him out and if you dont like him transfer.

That's true..but a good teacher make the class a little easier..and less stressful. He's the only one who commented..so I'm taking his statements with a grain of salt..but I'll definitely be paying attention to the teacher..hopefully, he'll show up!! lol

I would suggest just going up to the school and talking to people in the nursing department to see if this is something you would be able to do. They have a nursing program for day students and evening students. I dont know if there are any nursing classes offered for just the weekend though.
