I do share your pain!:anbd: I can't believe that the letters don't go out until late july/early august! I'm gonna take a summer course and hopefully that will distract me from the long wait. What about you?

Yeah....I'm gonna take statistics 101 and get it out of the way!!! I'm sooooo nervous !!! If i don't get in I think I'll explode!!! What class are you thinking about taking??? I can't believe that they would make us wait so long but I wish you the best of luck and if we both get in then maybe we can become study buddies !:yeah: Did you apply to day or evening program?? I applied for the day!

I applied for the day program too. Yeah, the wait is unreal. The evening program takes their PAX in September, receive notices in November and start in January! The whole process is like 4 months. Ours is six! I hope you get in as well. To find a study buddy so early would be great. I'm taking Microbiology in the Summer I semester. That way I'll be finished my supplemental classes and can concentrate on the Nursing courses only. Are you going right into your BSN when you complete Essex? Is that why you are taking Statistics?

Yes...I plan on going right into my bsn so while I'm waiting on my letter I might as well get started on the classes I need for that too. I think we are going to need study buddies..I heard the program is SERIOUS!!!! I heard that they give you like 5 chapters to read on your first day!!! I have two friends who also are waiting for the day program letters so hopefully we all get in and can stick together to make it through.I already took micro and all of my other prereqs. I had a great professor. It was a man( hint hint)I hope you do well. I got an A. I only have one more science class to take for my associates in science so hopefully I'll come out with two degrees when it's all said and done. I also want to concentrate on just my nursing classes.... i think that's the easier way.Did you apply anywhere else??

I didn't apply anywhere else. Essex is my best and only choice because I have a previous degree @ Essex and many of my courses can transfer right into the RN program. I work part-time and have a little one so I was in no position to fill out many different applications with letters and the like. Essex's process was smooth, no waiting lists and I felt I had a pretty good chance based on my history with the school. Did you take Micro in the day or evening. I'm taking it in the evening and the adjuncts are usually the teachers. If you took it in the day, I probrably know who your professor was. Is he skinny, african american and last name begins with a L?

Anyway, that's the reason why I pushed myself to take all of the other classes before the program starts so in the event that the 5 chapter myth is true, I'll be able to manage it if I only have 1 class per semester. :D Although you have to take Math 116 with Nursing 107 so technically it'll be two, but after 107 it's one class per semester till the end....oh wait, you have to take Nursing 234 with Nursing 235 as the last course in the program. Oh well, you know what I mean! It'd be great to go into the program 4 strong so I'm rooting for us all. :yeah:

I do have to warn you that I'm very serious about my studies and can get anal about helping as opposed to doing. Meaning, if we go into a study group together I will pull my weight and expect for others to pull theirs. I will not do my work and then share it with you so you can copy, and I don't expect to copy off of you either. What I will do is show you where I found the answer and clarify if needed and I'd expect the same from you.

I do realize that this is all a little premature but I find that discussing expectations at the start of any type of relationship helps to keep drama and ill feelings at bay. ;) Other than that I look forward to meeting all of you in class! Oh wait, orientation first :lol2:!

What is the chapter 5 rumor???? I'M SCAAAAARED!!!! :crying2:

For micro I took it in the eve. my professor was a man and the last name began wit a T..MAN, he was good!!!

If you're taking it it the eve you should be ok!!!

As far as our study group..I think we will be great together...I too do not expect to give the answers away and expect everyone to do their part, but I do not mind helping someone who does not understand the material or something like that and would hope that they would do the same for me!! If you just copy off of someone else how can you really expect to learn the material yourself...the only person you are cheating in that case is you!!!

I'm going to get my CNA certification in July...the class is only 6 weeks so that i can get a lil hospitel experience and hopefully be ahead of the game.. Being a medical assistant for so may years does help some but it gives you no hospital or nursing home experience.. and being a phlebotomist...draw blood is nothing for me so IV certification should be a snap!! I'm just trying to get all the training I can LOL...I'm just so ready to get started and I know you are too :D

What is your first degree in??? I'll come out with one in Science and one in Nursing (wilth God's blessing and help)

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hopefully we will meet at orientation. :yeah:

Sooooo glad you posted back, I was scared that I had chased you away! :sofahider I was referring to you saying that they give us 5 chapters to read the first day! :uhoh3: Yes, I'm taking Micro in the evening and yes, I agree with helping and not carrying others. I'm so anxious to get started. I was a Medical Assistant also! My previous degree was in Chemical Technology. I know I'm all over the place but I have an appt to go to. I just wanted to post back because I'm so excited that you finally posted back.:monkeydance: I'll post again later.

LOL......No you didn't scare me away!!! :lol2: We'll be fine !!! will be looking for your next post!! Summer 1 starts monday!!

Ok so about the medical assistant thing. I went to NCI in 2008 for their CCMA, CMLA, CET & CPT course. Then I took Nationals and became certified. I did my training in an area hospital and got hired per diem. I then applied for the Tech position that was posted, took the course and now I work as a PCT in the same hospital. It sounds like you have a plan that's feesible. Where are you getting your CNA cert from? Do they do clinicals in hospitals? I might have a tip for you, I'll send it private message.

Can you believe it's already Summer semester? Time is flying and I hope it continues to fly so we'll get our letters in the blink of an eye. I'm super ready to get started. I have an old med-surg book I've been glancing through, just to get a sense of these dreaded care plans that I keep hearing so much drama about. The book is huge! I'm saving for my car because I can't see starting Nursing school without one. Where will I put all of the books I know I'm gonna get flogged with?:p

I wonder if they send out acceptance and denial letters or just acceptance letters? They only offer 2 micro classes and no teachers are posted yet, so hopefully I'll get lucky! Hey, did you get your grades for the spring 2010 semester yet?

Specializes in Float.

I have a classroom full of Nursing Students in my micro class!!!!:D I'm getting so much info, it's not 5 chapters, it's 8  and they don't give it to you on the first day of classes. You get the assignment before classes start!!!! At orientation:lol2:! How bout that?!

I am also waiting for my response letter...it is truly a nail biting-teeth cringing process. I called the other day to see if the end of July/early August time frame is still the answer and it is. The person I spoke to said the department hasn't even met yet to go over the applications. Good luck to us all.
