Thank you Karen. This IS exciting.
Right now some technology is helpful while some actually attempts to over ride the judgment of the registered nurse.
As these systems evolve nurses need to contribute our ideas to prevent the technology from controlling our practice. The author agrees.
The computer could develop discharge care plans based on the actual care that was recorded in the patient's computerized record. One area Hardiker and Heathfield (1994) and Strachan (1994) did agree on was that the present systems available do need to be improved.
I am making a hard copy so I can study it more carefully.
