I am trying to fill out my applications for CRNA school and all school require an essay- why do you want to be a CRNA, what are your long term goals, why do you want to go to our school, etc. Does anybody have any advice? Any help is soooooooooo appreciated.

Thanks

Amy

apontius, at the risk of sounding demeaning, why do YOU want to go to school, what are YOUR long term goals and why do YOU want to be a CRNA.

the essay should be the easiest part. be honest, tell the truth.

it's been stated before that if the only reason is for the money, dont put that and dont apply to crna school. Look within yourself and answer the questions.

noone else knows why you want to go but you.

I had to write a small letter stating why I was out of school and what I did during that time away, plus what made me want to come back. It was easy to write since all I did was tell the truth and drop hints that their school ROCKED!! :)

Be enthusiastic in your essay. Make it interesting, start it off with a "catchy statement" that will grab the readers attention. You can even submit your essay to an online essay evaluator for feedback. Be honest, sincere, and professional....etc. The essay was a pain for me, but I didnt want to underestimate the importance or emphasis my particular school might place on it. It took me about 2 months to perfect my resume and essay, so take your time. This forum is WONDERFUL, and gave me insight that I could have never gotten anywhere else. You can even go back in the forums posted months ago for advice.Good Luck.

write about any organizations you were in i college, and how they helped develope leadership skills, they want to know you can take charge of a situation and work well with other, mention running codes, talk about types of pts you take and how they have prepared you, they also like to hear that you are flexible and can deal with new situations as they come up, and they also want you to be teachable not stuck in your ways, if you can incorporate that into your essay you should do fine.
