I am considering a travelling assignment in the ER at Swedish in Seattle. Can anyone tell me more about this facility specifically the ED? I am also curious, is it a teaching hospital? I heard a rumor that you have to wear white scrubs only, is that true? Any details would be much appreciated. Thanks

my experience with swedish was strictly as the family of a patient. in the in-patient units, anyway, whites were required. (this was 11 years ago.) the food was wonderful, the staff were great. i wouldn't hesitate to take a travel assignment there -- the word from the agency nurses i knew was that staffing was always great. "if they need more staff, they'll get some in there" is what i heard. besides, seattle is great!

Swedish is the largest hospital in Seattle, but it is not the trama hub if that is what your looking for, that would be Harborview. Scrubs are the attire, all whites seem archaic. I know several nurses that have worked there and I think it was a nice experience. I think thye have a good team today. They have a new Director for all 4 ED's in Swedish, and he seems to have just landed. Hope that is helpful.

Swedish is really a great hospital! The best in Seattle, by nearly all measures. It is a teaching hospital. I don't think the white scrubs is true - I see all colors of scrubs. You should definitely work there.
