ER and OR in Chicago and NY

Nurses General Nursing

I am a RN nurse and i am about to take the NCLEX exam

I don't know yet if i will work in Chicago or in New York. I might also go to Austin Texas in 1 or 2 years

Actually i have a lot of questions

I am interested in ER and OR

I am wondering how much i am supposed to earn as a new grad RN nurse in those states. I have about one year experience abroad as a nurse but i have not been practising for the last 6 months.

Is it easy to get a position in those fields ?

Do anybody has some tips to help to find a good hospital in those places ?

I don't know either if i will be able to get a permanent position straight away or just get a 3 or 6 month contract ?

I hope you all will be able to answer

I have so much to learn

I have been working in the OR for about 2 years. I started after graduation from nursing school. It is a totally different field of nursing than working on the floors. I love my job, but when it comes to salary at my hospital..I'm am better off looking for another OR job at a different hospital. I live in PA. If you want more info regarding the work of an OR nurse let me know....Good luck

Yes, i would really appreciate to know more about OR

What kind of shift do you have to work, if you can have continuing education, insurance

Everything you can tell me actually

Thanks again
