Hi!
I am an SFSU Student but will be moving to Chico in a couple of years 'cause my fiance will be going to California State University, Chico. I already took a tour and met with HR at Enloe. I can see why you will be striking. The benefits are pretty bad at Enloe, especially the retirement. 3% is awful!
Nevertheless I will be coming up there and unless I can get a job with the County I will most likely go to Enloe. Do you work as an RN there and have any advice for me?
I will be graduating soon and am considering going into Peds here in the Bay Area. Enloe has barely an Peds except that Peds/Oncol/Medsurg unit. What units are good to work on at Enloe and will I be able to get into them with Peds experience? Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!!
Good luck and hope the strike goes OK for you and your family and that the matter is resolved quickly!
I just went to your link to the Chicoer.com article and saw you are bargaining for health benefits after retirement. What are they now? Are the premiums rediculous and coinsurance high? I wish you well in this area since I am starting to become aware of how serious a problem this is for our future generations. Good luck!

Enloe Nurses Reach Tentative Pact with Hospital
http://www.calnurses.org/media-center/press-releases/2006/march/page.jsp?itemID=27564401
"It's always been about making Enloe a place that will attract quality nurses who will stay and raise their families in our community," said Sandy Gorter, RN, a member of the CNA nurse negotiating team who works in the same-day surgery center. "The new gains in patient care protections along with retiree healthcare benefits now make that a reality."

The Chico area is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. The mountains are beautiful and houses are still affordable. Now that a union will be fighting for nurses, it sounds like a great move!
Enloe RNs ratify contract Thursday...... :yelclap: http://www.chicoer.com/newshome/ci_3610854
"Nearly 13 months after negotiations began, Enloe Medical Center's registered nurses have a union contract whose details suggest the nurses were indeed more interested in improving working conditions than in increasing their wages."
