Can anyone please tell me if am required to take an English test to be eligble to register as a Nurse with CRNBC. My first Language is French, but my RN training was in the UK. My spoken and written English is very fluent.
Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.
My instinct says that you shouldn't need to demonstrate proficiency in English if you trained in the UK. Have you checked out the CRNBC website's section on registration for Internationally Educated Nurses? The information should be there.
I believe the CRNE is available in both English and French
Oops, read the question wrong, sorry. They might require you to because you're considered an internationally educated nurse, but I don't know for sure.
I don't think it's required if you are fluent in English. A colleague of mine trained in France and didn't have to write it because she stated she's fluent (she is, albeit she still uses the odd pronoun here and there, lol)
They go by where you did your basic nursing training, not your home country as far as determining language requirements for working in Canada. Having trained in the UK, you are exempt from the English exams.
