I was looking for some feedback on english comp requirement through excelsior. I have heard about uexcel and staighterline and im wondering which one would be my best bet? Im not the best at writing but I think I do ok. What kind of preperation would be required to pass these? Also, has anybody do med terminology throught straighterline and did it transfer. Im not enrolled at this time in Excelsior so they wont give me a straight answer. So far I have the following credits in there respective order of completion. Im planning on doing A&I literature or humanities for my 6 humanities credits. Thanks for your help!

Devlopmental psych (excelsior)- B

Sociology (clep)- Pass

A&P (excelsior)- A

Microbiology (excelsior)- B

Hello,

Have you taken the CLEP as of yet?

If so, which study materials did you use?

Thanks !

Which CLEP are you referring to? Im not aware of a CLEP for enlish comp. It either has to be the Excelsior exam or the Uxcel exam which is on excelsiors web page. I did the Uexcel which is 3 credits as opposed to the 6 for the Excelsior exam. I got a "B" on it and all I used was just some searching around on google for writing tips and the Uexcel site has a study program that you can buy for 30 bucks I believe that is exactly like the real test and tells you your weak and strong areas. That is really all you need. I prepared for about a week and I hadnt done any writing in over 10 years since high school.

I took Straighterline English Comp I & II - loved it. Had to read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein but I rented the movie from Netflix one day, watched it and then used the Cliff Notes to fill in the differences. I had excellent grades on my writing projects and I did all of them in 1 day on the weekend. My research paper at the end of English Comp II was a perfect score and I chose a easy topic that I could relate to: Impact of Stroke Care in Rural Hospitals. I finished English 1 & 2 in about 30 days.

FYI - Mary Shelly's Frankenstein is a free e-book on just about any e-reader platform, you can download it to you computer for free also.
