Endorsing from Vermont to Washington...

Has anyone here tried endorsing license from Vermont to WA?

Can you advice what are the necessary requirements/ steps to follow? I have read WA website and I wonder if I still have to take CGFNS if I endorse. I am presently here in Philippines and I am also licensed here.

You will need to have at least the CES done to meet their requirements to endorse to them. I would just check out their site for the specific requirements for foreign nurses for endorsement, everything is always spelled out.

If you are still in the Philippines now, I would not do a thing as far as endorsing for quite sometime or you will just be paying additional fees to renew this license since there is going to be a long wait for a chance at a green card.

Not sure if you are aware but things are quite tight even for Americans up in Washington in terms of getting a job, especially as a new grad. So expect it to be much more difficult if you are needing to get petitioned. I would most definitely have an employer before even considering this.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you Ms. Suzanne. I read again WA's requirement for endorsement but couldn't see anything that they require the CES for endorsement. Also, on the CGFNS site, it says that ...

"June 12, 2008

Washington Board of Nursing will require CES Full Education Course-by-Course Report starting today

Effective June 12th, the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (i.e., Board of Nursing) will begin requiring the CES Full Education Course-by-Course Report for RNs and LPNs applying for licensure by exam. Applicants applying for endorsement may have copies of transcripts forwarded to the Board, or a CES Report.

Washington will continue to accept the CP certificate for RNs applying for licensure by exam or endorsement."

Should the copies of transcripts forwarded to the Board come directly from the school where the applicant graduated?

Has anyone here tried endorsing to WA? Please advice. Thanks...

If you are endorsing, you need to meet the same requirements as needed for initial licensure. It states that you need the CES, so this is what you are going to need to obtain. It will take you much longer to endorse if you are going to wait for them to do the evaluation of your credentials. Just because you meet the requirements for one state does not automatically mean that you will meet it in the new state.

Transcripts must always be sent in by the school, they are never accepted if they come from you; unless they are in a sealed envelope and placed in a courier envelope by you. Best is to have them send it in directly.

You still do not know if you will end up there, so I would go ahead and get the CES done while you are still in your country and can provide the documentation easily to CGFNS. It is a real pain to try to get it done when you are out of the country.

With things the way that they are with the economy right now here in the US, even if you hold a green card, you are going to find it difficult to find a job in WA at this time.

Thanks again Ms. Suzanne,

Just one more question..is it ok if i will not put WA as one of the recipients of my CES? Is it also ok if I will just request CGFNS to send my CES later to WA once I start the endorsement?

It is okay to do it later, but be aware that CGFNS may charge you a fee to do it later on.

Hello again Ms. Suzanne,

WA requires that license should be active and current when endorsing to them. Does it mean that I should have worked specifically in Vermont before I can apply for endorsement to WA?

There is no reason that you need to work first in VT, they only want to see an active and current license.

But things are quite tight in WA now in terms of finding a job and getting petitioned is all that much harder. Would try to find an employer there first before going thru the expense of the CES report, etc.

Best of luck to you.
