Hello,
I am a foreign Nursing grad just passed my NCLEX from CABON. I am located in NY so would like to work here. could you guys please advise me on how I can endorse my license to NY. I know that Internationally educated nurses need to get the CVS done by CGFNS for their initial licensure but dont know if its the same for endorsement or not. And how can I find an employer in NYC? please advice me. thanks.

Hi,
I am not sure about the process right now. Contact a state board of nursing in NY, and they will help you. http://www.op.nysed.gov/nurse.htm

CVS is not needed for endorsement. But the issue that you currently have is that you cannot endorse until you have a SSN#.
You just need to apply to the hospitals there................do not remember, are you going to need a green card, or do you already have one?

thanks a lot suzanne,
i just reviewed the license endorsement form for nybon. in the form 3 section iii( the form that is to be filled by the licensing board from where i passed nclex-rn), they write-was the applicant licensed in your jurisdiction?
if yes-license number, dateof issue, occupational title of license and basis of issuance. and in number 4 they write-- if not licensed, was the applicant eligible to take, retake the licensing examination in your jurisdiction? and there is a table for filling out the licensing exam result.
does that mean that nybon will consider my endorsement application on the basis of my nclex-rn results even if i don't have a license?
i dont have a green card yet, i am on h4 visa. looking for an employer who sponsers gc. i am taking the ielts this saturday, and hope i will make it. if everything goes well i hope i will get an ead based on my cgfns certificate.

thank you for the information, friend..
You are unable to endorse until you have a SSN#. Even though you have passed the NCLEX, you still do not hold a nursing license in the US, so do not have anything to endorse. No license number will be issued to you until you give CA your SSN#. So, on a technicality, you are not a licensed US nurse currently.
You can still go any find a job in NY. Once the process is near completion, you will be able to get your SSN#, then CA license, then you can endorse to NY right away.
This is one of main reasons that I never recommend that a foreign grad go for initial licensure in CA, takes too much time to endorse to another state.
You do not need CVS for the endorsement, but you will need a job and SSN# first before anything can be filed.
