Got a question for you guys. can tampon use cause endometriosis? I looked on different website and each one says something different. Some people seem to think it does and some think it doesn't. I know that there is no known cause for endometriosis, but this was a critical thinking question we had. I personally don't think it does, but I really wanted someone elses input.
Thanks

What I have heard is that the birth control implants that have been in place for a long time can sometimes become so lodged in the lining of the uterus that they are believed to be an underlying cause of endometriosis. However, I haven't heard that tampons cause this. Tampons have been associated with toxic shock syndrome caused by a particular strain of staph aureus. You might want to ask this question on the OB forum.

There is a theory about this and you might find answers by reseaching The Tampon Safety and Research Act of 1997. I don't have a link here, but it delves into the relationship between use of tampons and dioxin.
