I was diagnosed with endometriosis when i was 15 years old. My gyn put me on BC pills. I have been on them for 3 yrs. Is there any other treatment to control the pain or will i be on the BC pills forever? :o

I have endometriosis as well. I haven't found anything to work as well as BCPs. Are you having side effects from your pill? Maybe you haven't found the right one yet. I tried many different ones until I found the best one for me. Please talk to your GYN if you have concerns about being on the pill. There are other options such as the patch if you don't like taking a pill every day.

I have endometriosis too. BCPs don't do much for me. I've had 4 surgeries to have the endo lasered off-this brought relief for about 2 cycles. I took Lupron for 6 months-it helped, but I got pregnant after the first cycle I had after the Lupron.

Truth be told, the only time I have been pain free from endometriosis is when I have been pregnant.

If you are still hurting, maybe it is time to talk to your gyn about other options.

I am on BCP too. I have been on them since 1997 as I am afraid to get off them and have the horrific pain return. I know I will have to get off them soon as I cant be on them forever. I know there are researchers in Australia looking for a cure.

It would be nice for the day of cure and freedom from pain. :)

I too was diagnosed, at age 16 for me. I had three surgeries and finally had a hysterectomy with partial ooperectomy at age 24. But I managed to have two children before that. I tried BCP but had the opposite reaction with the endometriosis go wild and bound my ovary to my intestines. So I had the surgery. But at the time I didn't know of any other options. That was in 1975. Since then the BCP therapy has vastly improved. If at all possible hang in there if it is helping you. I understand your reluctance so keep researching and talking to your gyn. Get checked regularly and wath for any adverse reactions to the BCP. God Bless. :)

I did talk to my gyn and he said that BCP was the only thing to treat it... I also asked about the patch but it has the same kind of hormones that made me feel bad (headache) so that is out... I am feeling better with the BCP but i dont want to be on them forever.
