So I changed my major about 9 times since I've graduated high school, taken so many different prerequisites for different majors I should have a bachelor's from my community college, and I decide I'm fixed on nursing. Seriously.
Since then I've been working full/part time to support myself and didn't get the best grades for prenursing classes, although I have my AA. I don't want to wait for the ADN RN program at a local community college so I enrolled in a private LVN program from a private university which is quite costly. I will be finished within a year and I plan to take a LVN career bridge to RN/ADN because the wait is nonexistant or shorter than the generic RN program. Then after I plan to enroll in CSU Fullerton's ADN to MSN program which is 3 years.
My family nags me about the cost and suggests that I wait out the RN/ADN program at a local community college which is 2-3 years and a lottery. What the hell would I be doing then? I could be getting various other degrees.
I feel like I know what I'm doing. I told them I'd find some way to do it but I feel doubtful of my decisions. Was I right to do so? Am I just wasting my time? Is there a shorter more feasable route?
What lead you to your career and how hard was it?

Hi,
I think its cool that you tried different things since high school. What sticks out to me is the comment that "I could be getting various other degrees".
I do think in situations such as yours (or mine because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do) that LPN is a decent option. It gives you a quick and dirty idea if nursing is for you and in a year you have something you can use to support yourself while you continue on with whatever path you take. Isn't there a cheap CC LPN program? For myself, I wouldn't wanted to pay a lot of money but there are folks here that did it and are happy with their decision.
Good luck with whatever you decide. Jules
