Hello everyone:
I just completed my first semester at Christ Hospital School of Nursing (CHSON). Well, let me say that I studied A LOT and had a lot of stressful moments. I have a Bachelors and an MBA but I quickly learned that this does not mean anything. In other words, the study habits that I cultivated throughout my school years have helped me but the testing style (NCLEX style) is nothing that I have seen before. It takes some getting used to.
My question is ... can any Christ or Bayonne graduates give me some feedback about getting employed in NJ? When did you graduate and how difficult was it and/or how long did it take you to secure employment once you passed the NCLEX? Also, where did you get hired? Where did you get hired and in what types of units/facilities? Did you get hired once you stated on your resume that you were enrolled in a BSN program?
I am strongly considering working at a hospital in my last year to help me get my foot in the door once I graduate and start looking for jobs. But, I am also contemplating switching to an Accelerated BSN program, like the one offered at NJCU ... Which hospitals in Northern NJ (preferably Bergen County) will hire Associates Degrees RNs?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! I know a lot of you have been in my shoes. Thank you in advance. :)
