U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hi all,

I got accepted to the BSN/MSN Segue program starting this august.

I wanted to know if anyone else got their letter of acceptance.

Talk to you soon!!

Good luck.

Hi Georgia. Congrats on your acceptance! I'm in the Segue Program now (entered Fall 09). Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi LaBrittany! :-)

Thanks for replying!

As for now, I am still very exited about starting on this new path, and have no idea what to expect. I don't have any specific questions yet, but feel free to tell me about what you think I should know.

Well, now that I think of it:

Was housing offered to you? Or did you have to live off campus?

How is Emory in terms of financial aid? Are they generous?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Sorry about the late reply! The end of the semester is approaching so life is a little hectic right now lol. As far as housing, no I don't remember it ever being offered to us, but you can request housing at http://www.emory.edu/HOUSING/. Remember that you will still be considered an undergraduate, so you might have to get undergrad housing. I'm not totally sure about that though, so that would be something to ask the housing department. Emory also has a off-campus housing forum. The link for it is www.housing.emory.edu/off-campus/home.cfm. I chose to live off campus because I felt that I would get more "bang for my buck" as far as space and I wouldn't have to purchase a meal plan. I went through ProMove and they were very helpful throughout the whole process. I'm not sure where you are from, but I'm from Louisiana and the idea of having to find housing from a distance was very daunting until I found ProMove! Other search options are: the Atlanta Journal & Constitution and Creative Loafing.

As far as financial, know that most students do get some type of aid. Emory gives a lot of scholarships and grants and the people in the financial aid department are very helpful. They're gonna do everything they can to make sure students can afford to attend. Also, know that they really do choose the most deserving students for the BIG scholarships (Woodruff and Fuld Fellowships)! I will say that on top of my financial aid package (that you won't get until the summer) I did take out a private loan to help with living expenses and to have some money in my pocket since it's kinda difficult to work at first. I hope this was somewhat helpful, and again, I apologize for the late reply!

LaBrittany

Hey!

Thanks for the reply!

I was undecided on whether or not I should live on campus, but it seems that living off campus might be less expensive ( from your experience?). I am from Boston, MA and I will definitely check ProMove.

I know you have summers free, ( meaning no classes during the summer) what do you do during your summers? Do you work? Can you?

I did some research, and found out that some hospitals do offer 10 weeks paid externships during the summer... Have you done anything like that this past summer?

Thanks for letting me know.

wanted to bump this thread....anyone accepted to the Segue program for fall 2012? Or past graduates, how did you like the program?
