SANE on call pay

Specialties Emergency

Hi I am trying to get an idea of what SANE nurses get paid? I'm starting a program at my hospital and am trying to negotiate a pay per case. Most of my nurses are ED nurses. Thanks!

Hello Sabadudu!

I was a SANE nurse briefly, and we were getting on call $300 per case if we were called in, after they revamped the program. Before, I think it was time and a half or something like that. Hope this helps and hope you get what you deserve pay wise :) this is in Pennsylvania btw.

All the SANE nurses are also ED nurses where I work, so the base pay was the same. They take 24-hour call and earn a whopping $1/hour, but if called in for a case they get time and a half pay. Nurses in general don't have great pay or benefits in my area, so I'm interested to know how SANE nurses are compensated elsewhere.

I was active duty Army as a SANE - so zero additional compensation or call pay. I definitely got the short end of the stick on that one! I believe for my civilian counterparts, call pay was 10% of their base hourly pay per hour, plus time and a half for actual cases. We tried to divide up the schedule so night shift RNs took night call and day shift took days, 7p-7a and 7a-7p. Some people preferred 24s.

SANE, BOSTON MA

oncall $20 / hour
