Has anyone taken extra courses to obtain an emergency or trauma nursing certificate? I work in an ER in Canada and am wondering opinions on courses. Which are beneficial to have?

There isn't a best certification to have. Any time you get certified, it helps your job standing. Also, learning new information is never wrong, and if your hospital is paying for it, go for broke!

If you get paid to get certified, do it. Outside of that you can look at jobs or schooling you may want to pursue to see what they favor or require. Get those

We're required to have TNCC and ENPC, I believe, though I haven't done those yet. CEN is optional. ACLS and PALS are mandatory, too.
I may go for CEN after a few years on the floor, but the other four seem like enough until then. We only get extra pay for the optional certification.
