Email Required for Job Application

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello Everyone,

I was filling out an application online today for a position working directly with the patients at one of the "Big Named" hospitals here in Atlanta, GA. Anyway, the application requires you to enter an email address for your previous supervisors. This is something that I've never had for any supervisor. With that being said, I tried to enter N/A into the field, but received an error message saying it wasn't valid. I can't proceed to the more important sections and submit the application without the email addresses. What should I do? I have considered contacting HR at the hospital on Monday to see if there is a way to bypass it and complete the application. Would I be crazy to do this? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank You In Advance

Which hospital is this for? I had applied to just about every hospital in Atlanta and I never "had" to put in an email for a previous supervisor. If you call HR and they say you have to then try calling HR at the places you worked and maybe get the emails from them. Have you tried putting "unknown" is the field or something like that?

I don't really feel comfortable saying which hospital it is. I don't want to single them out. I tried putting unknown into the field, but I still wasn't allowed to proceed with the application process. I'll call their HR on Monday to hear what they have to say about it. Thank you OptimusRN.

HighNursingGoals, we must have applied to the same hospital because I had the same problem (I applied to a hospital in ATL also)! I've never seen that on an application either, they usually ask for a phone number. Did you find out anything regarding this?

The field is most likely looking for a text/general field input with no spaces and an '@' symbol.

You could try something like "asneeded@uponrequest"

This is one of the pleasures of filling out online applications and why I avoid them. I have encountered those fields that can not be circumvented without an answer and do not care to put something in the field that, in effect, causes me to submit an untrue statement, thus setting me up for future retribution. Catch 22.

Have you tried leaving that field totally blank. I have applied to practically every hospital here in Atlanta before I moved here and I think that either I skipped that section or ive never come across it. For the most part they never really need it up front they may ask for it again after you interview or when they call you back for an interview, I would probably still call my former job's HR dept to get the email addresses. GOOD LUCK!!

quittaRN, the field must be filled in or it does not allow me to send the application. I found out the email address and just filled it in. Thanks ladies for all your responses.
