Hi Everyone,The hospital at which I'm employed just made the switch from paper to electronic documentation. The program chosen was CPSI. I have used other programs at different facilities, and am not crazy about CPSI. For those of you have used this system, what are your thoughts on it? Maybe I am just not used to it yet? I feel that it requires a lot of unnecessary "clicking" and the eMAR seems like its setting up users for med errors. I realize I will be forced to get used to it, but just curious. Thanks!
We have just went to CPSI ... interested in knowing how it it is going for your hospital.
We also are doing CPOE. Are you doing CPOE ?

Since electronic charting has develope for faster and easier charting,it hasn't. If you are new to the system,it will take you estimated time...3 months to get it down pack and if you have medication administration also with electronic charting...God Bless you!! You have to get use to the computer and ask alot of question.
CPSI is the system we used and have used for many years. It is limited in what it can do. We have devised many work arounds. That being said, there are flaws with all electronic systems. It does take CPSI quite, quite, quite a while to make changes in things, even those that are requirements by Joint Commission and other governing bodies. It is what it is. Make the best of it because most companies will not change due to cost of getting another system. I wish we had another system but we don't so we are adjusting to life with less then optimal settings. I would like the system to do much more then it does. It is mainly used by smaller hospitals so I am guessing you are in a small facility. Most larger facilities go with Cerna or McKesson to name a few. Good luck...
I forgot the actual name of our electronic charting system, but it is on a Citrix server (and I know there are different systems that also use Citrix). I personally hated it at first, but that is because it was brand new to me. Now that I am used to it, I love the charting system. We also have CPOE and it makes a world of a difference.
Its clear that CPSI is intensly disliked by many; I have worked with it, I am now proficient at it and do NOT have an issue; I really dislike Paragon & Cerner, if anyone wants to start a ***** fest on the user UN friendliness of computer charting...?!
I hear ( being an older, 50- ies plus RN) a lot of young RN's remark that CPSI is so Eighties; I agree and feel them; if 1 grew up with computers, it is arachaic, ancient. The really young RN's still do struggle ( but less) w Cerner & Paragon, clearly My advice: learn it, use it, get proficient at it...... there's worse!
