Elac's acceptance for spring 2016

Published

Has anyone heard back from Elac nursing program for the spring semester?

It just says there's a mandatory meeting this week

Wow congrats to you vivianjacquelin. I haven't heard from rio, will call them tomorrow. But if I didn't get into rio that's fine I guess... since my first choice was LAC.

Thank you (: yes i think i am going to LAC too.

What semester did you ladies get accepted for at ELAC?

I got into the spring for elac.

I did too, i am thinking of going to rio hondo because i can get the BOG waiver there, they don't offer it at LA county :(

Oh man, bog is the only thing I get in terms of grants. Shoot! And LAC is 2400 per semester, they have this deferment plan that drops it 700 per semester and a chance of waiving the balance if we work for county for 3 years after passing the nclex. Not sure what the criterias are or how competitive it is. Hoping to find out next Friday. I'm on the wait list for rio. :( I was told that I'm on top of the list. Anyhow let me know what your ultimate decision is.

Oh one more thing, others say they get calgrants and Pell grants and some other aids, not sure if that'll help you. Sorry I don't get any of these grants so I can't elaborate how they get em. I know they applied thru fafsa, hey I did too but I get only bog which I am grateful for. But books and everything else is charged on my credit card. I'm unemployed too...go figure.

Yea I'm in the same situation, I might get some help from financial aid but not a lot, I plan to transfer to get a bsn so I want to save my financial aid for there better anyways, I hope we get more info on Friday

The BRN website says ELAC is on warning status with intent to close effective 9/3/2015. Did anyone else see this? Yikes! I did see they had very low pass rates for a few years now.

"INFORMATION: NURSING PROGRAM PLACED ON WARNING STATUS WITH INTENT TO CLOSE THE NURSING PROGRAM”"

I just seen that! But September has passed do you know if there is an update on the matter?

I heard some whispers on campus about the program being under "review" but don't think the program was canceled. I know some nurses who graduated andpass the board exam from elac and they seem pretty competent. Maybe the pass rate is low because others aren't trying as hard. I think the students are taking the nclex too lightly.
