El Centro Orientation Today

Published

Today was orientation for EC-anyone else on allnurses attend? I think that I did recognize someone there-I think that I may have PM'd someone that was in the orientation back in April about Acceptance Letters. However I did not want to say anything-it may have seemed strange? I had a great time and I get to do clinal at Parkland-happy!!! I was lucky enough that my little poker chip number was called early enough to where I was able to choose. I guess eventually clinicals will be at different hospitals. I think my clinical professor is one by the name-Beecham? Does anyone have any input on said professor? Regardless, I am sure I have a challenging two year road ahead of me, but it is a road I am thankful to be traveling. I spent ten years at two dead-end type jobs, they were for me anyway, and I look forward to starting my journey for my passion-helping others. Just as an overscope, everyone in the room seemed excited and happy to be there. I really hope I get the chance to know everyone and share this experience we are embarking upon:heartbeat:nuke::heartbeat

Hi mom35,

I'm at Parkland too! I picked up my scrubs yesterday and bought my book box at Majors with the discount coupon. I'm excited and nervous!

Here is Ms. Beecham's page on www.ratemyprofessors.com.

(I was the guy in the back that asked a lot of questions ... who are you?)

So are you at Nlake, or at El centro. Okay, I remember the guy at EC Tuesday that was asking the book guy questions-was that you? I sat on that same side, the second row on first chair on inside aisle. Blonde hair, blue blouse, 36 year old -nothing remarkable:rolleyes:

At first I thought about only buying some of the books, however I started worrying that maybe I would need all of them-so I will "bite the bullet" and buy the box! From what I have read, Beecham should be good to work with. I am sort of an adrenaline junkie so I thought Parkland would have lots of excitement.

Yup, that was me. I'm at El Centro.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to it.

Good luck with Mrs. B. She is really tough. A lot of students do not like her. Make sure you take her CarePlan class though...it is really good. It will be offered sometime during Sept or Oct. Their will be announcement for it.

Good Luck.

Specializes in ER.

Ms Beecham is a really intelligent lady - she is tough though. She will find your weakness and beat it out of you. She can be verbally harsh, but just accept it and don't make the same mistake twice. If you allow yourself to learn from her, you will be an excellent nurse. She is VERY respected by the nurses that work at Parkland as well....she's been there FOREVER. I agree on her careplan class. Her clinical is paperwork HEAVY. If you can learn to do careplans her way, pretty much all the teachers will love them. Take it the first time it is offered and your careplans will go much more quickly!

Good luck,

Yang
