Hi spoiled lil sister,

I am actually going into the sec. semester here at El Centro now, I was in a pilotprogram and we had the choice to do the HPRS class that you are now taken as a prereq. And I am very glad that I had the opportunity to take it upfront, because we were able to get three of our skills done before the actual nursing program started. This made it allot less stressful for us compared to the other group that did not chose to take this option. We also got to start clinicals earlier then they did.

I wish you the best of luck in your application process. How many prereq and support classes have you taken so far?

Hi mysterious_one! Thanks for your response. I'm glad to hear that this change may make it easier for 1st semester students. I also thank you for your words of encouragement during the nerve-wrecking application process. I have taken ALL of my pre-reqs & support course work (except for micro which I'm taking in the spring), plus I have a 4.0 GPA, so hopefully I stand 1/2 a chance of getting in the first go-round. I guess it will all come down to the HESI test results. Because it's so new, they are still trying to work some of the kinks out of scheduling it for all of the 15 health occupations programs, so I probably won't be able to take it until late January/early February. I took ECC's HESI A2 prep course & I've been studying and reviewing as much as possible. It's kind of a nice surprise that my sixth-grader nephew is needing help with his math homework. A lot of what he is doing in class is what we are tested over in the math section, so that's good.

Be sure to check in from time to time & tell me how things are going!

with a 4.0 in all your classes you have pretty good chance in getting in. I don't know much about the entrance Hesi. I believe it adds the testing for A&P into it. I had to take the NET, and I actually had to do it twice because I didn't pass the reading part :o the first time around, I was to slow, lol. Maybe because English is my sec. language. But I am sure you will be doing just fine.

Good luck

spoiled lil sister: Good Luck to you!! Sounds like you have your foot almost through the door. It took me several tries before I got accpeted. Don't give up!

Hi Spill -

Sorry that I didn't see your reply until now - I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. Boy, I hope you are right about my foot being 1/2 way through the door.

As corny as it sounds, I'm sooooo excited - I just purchased my HPRS books & supply kit today. It makes it feel real, ya know? I'm sure it is nothing in comparison to what you all get to do in your classes, but I received a gauze sponge package, 2 pairs of sterlized surgical gloves, and a urethral catheterization tray. My family is a bunch of sarcastic smart-ellics (including myself!), so everytime someone is mean to me, I threaten that they are earning the privelidge for me to practice on them once we learn all about urinary elimination. Needless to say, I hold the power!!! :lol2:

Everyone take care but have a blast during your first semester!!!

I finally got access to the ECC SNA site. I have been waiting for the info for a while now! I just wanted to let you guys know so you could check it. I am trying to spruce it up and add important documents. Check it often because it will now be updated!!!!!

I did the pilot programm, and had to the Hprs class that you are taking now, so yes, I was just where you are now ;) . YOu will like it, one advantage over everyone else besides that you will have some skills under your belt beforehand is, that you will learn a medical terminology crash course. This is very helpful, have fun.

Will we be able to order the T-shirts from there? Or the clipboard?

Kathy,

I am not really sure about that as the t-shirts are sold on-campus and the clipboards are ordered through another website when they find out how many people want to buy them. That is a good idea though and I will ask the SNA President what we can do about that.

Jaxia,

Go to e-campus!! that's what the $70 is for I guess. It requires a cartridge access number something or other. I wonder when we get this?? One step closer!! I do have someone that will do the embroidery for me if we need an extra scrub top or something.
