El Centro/Northlake help

Can someone tell me about the HPRS class? It says its MTWRF with a lab one day a week. It doesnt have a time for the class, just the lab. Im confused.

well I think I figured it out...its an internet class with lab once a week

I am currently taken this class. The Medical Term. is online exams 20 questions each. Do at your own pace. The Labs are scheduled throughout the semester, choose which ones you want to attend. Sign up online for the labs. There is 3 exams take at school whenever you are ready and 1 final, a set date. Very flexible.

But it is hard, a lot to remember. Stay organized for this class. Don't wait to the last moment to do everything.

did you have to work for THR for a year before you could join the program?? My neighbor is a teacher for Harris and is trying to get me a job as a surgical tech with THR.

I've never seen such a big mess. My wife thought the online HPRS would be more flexible so that she could take classes at North Lake but it was worse. Yes, it is at your own pace and the quizzes you can take from home but the MODULES (1-7) are at certain time BLOCKS. You have a time frame for completing all the modules and they vary throughout the week but let's say you sign up for MODULE 3-the block is from 8a.m. to 11:00a.m.; if you're 10 min. late, you can't go in. They will offer different days of the week for that module but you must go during the block time. Most of the MODULES are from 8-11:00 a.m. and 1-4:00p.m., and you MUST attend them to check off. Check offs are complicated too. You have 3 check offs (vitals, wounds, cath) and the way she had to do it is sign up for them in person at El Centro. The stapled groups of paper are pinned to the wall with the dates available. People would sign up being confused and take up all the spots and then didn't show up. Then, if they couldn't go, it was too much of a hassle to go BACK to EL Centro to take their name off, so time was wasted for those wanting to check off, and for the teachers. It was a big MESS. My wife ended up taking 12 hrs. at North Lake since this HPRS class was ONLINE but was so stressed out having to drive downtown between her other classes, not to mention the $60 in parking tickets. This HPRS class is not thought out but you do need it. I just wish they were able to explain to students HOW the class works before they sign up for other classes. Good Luck.

Thanks for the heads up... thats not sounding good, Im takin 18 hours this semester including HPRS.

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

It wasn't that bad before. I think it's just a mess because they are trying to get so many of the classes in so everyone who wants to apply can.

But, I did feel for the people who were trying to find a time to check off.
