C'mon peeps, where are you all? There are posts for every other ECC/NL class. We need our own too.
Anyone else starting in the Fall '07?

I take the train - I live in Allen and park at the Parker station. It takes time, but not any more than driving down there.
You'll do fine. Let me know if I can help in any way!

Hi Linz! I'll be at orientation Friday too!
I see that you live in Sachse. I am in Rockwall. There is a Lake Ray Hubbard DART transit center off 30 & Beltline (Bus #238 goes to Downtown, among others). I have taken it before, it's not too bad and pretty fast, especially with the HOV.
See ya Friday :-)

Oh yea, I also enrolled in an online Pharmacology class in hopes that it would help prepare me a bit more for first semester. I am kinda up to myself to figure out the best way to learn the material. Once again, good prep I suppose.

The Downtown Garland Rail Station is like 10 minutes from my house, I think I'm going to park my car there and ride to school everyday. Most programs require pharmacology as a pre req, I was surprised El Centro does not. I did not initially get in, so I continued to retake College Algebra in the Spring and had started taking Anatomy over when I got the call. I wish I could have done more to prepare! Well at least I now know one person in the program! Congrats on getting in and I will see you on Friday! Are you going to get there early?

there is one book that will help you guys to study for NCLEX type questions for first semester lecture. It is called "Fundamentals of Success" (978-0803610569 ). After that, many students like the Saunder NCLX RN review. You can get both at Amazon or halfprice books. I also took the HPRS course, since I was in the Pilot group and the first to take it in place of the 1119 course. You will learn several skills, plus medical terminology. It will also help you to get a jump start on some critical thinking type questions on the tests. It is very helpful and eases the load of first semester very much.

Are there any NLC fall 2007 folks out here?? Hello to all the folks that help me out always like Yang! Congrats to you all going to ECC this fall!!
I got my first choice!
McCarty @ Presby Dallas, Wed/Thur, 6:45-3:15
That's great! I got my third choice:( THS, an hour away from my house. But at least I'm in nursing school! It's also from 6:45 to 3:15. Are you gonna buy the book box? I just know that I can save ALOT of money buying used, but I won't get all that software! I will have to think about it.
Yea, I will probably get the box. I live on my laptop, so I want the software.
Sorry you didn't get your top pick. Were you one of the last called? I was in the second group of ten.
You weren't the one eating the sandwich were you - haha!

Hey I'm here girl. It took me forever to figure all of his out. But if no one else joins I guess we'll have all the inside info for ourselves.

Congrats all you guys! You'll do fine. What were all of your choices on clinicals?
No girl, I wasn't eating the sandwich! She was too funny! I was the LAST one called! Talk about bad luck!
The choices were: VA Hospital Dallas, Presby Dallas, THS Dallas, and Mesquite Community. VA had two sections, one ending at like 5:30. Presby filled up by the second set called.
Kirk, I know this might be pushing the envelope but can you do me a favor this weekend? I'd like to see if you can reply with the book titles and ISBN numbers from all the textbooks you bought. I want to go out to http://www.half.com and http://www.bookbyte.com and see what folks are getting for them and what their availability is.
Message to all: PLEASE try to buy your textbooks on one or both of these sites. You can also sell your books at semesters end and you will save hundreds if not thousands!!
Glad you all got your schedules, even if they're not perfect, you're in!! Don't sweat it, you'll both do great! I go to NLC for orientation next Tuesday so I'll let you all know what happens for me...
