Hi everybody!
I will be applying to the El Camino College nursing program for Spring 2012. If anyone has applied to this program how many points did you have when you were invited to take the TEAS? What was your gpa for nursing science pre-reqs and overall undergrad? Thank you so much for all who answer.

I think there are about 80 - 95 applicants because if it was at capacity on the first and second test date they are already at 80. Plus that ten that were in the third test date that makes 10 more. And thats not counting the folks that have already taken the TEAS. Unfortunately I scored a 78 . What did you score ishar and tonyj? I thought it was difficult. The reading was challenging for me.
There were only two tests so far. The first only had like 10 people, and it seems like the second had around 40. There's going to be at least one more on the 9th of Dec. That one was unscheduled.
I think the large majority of the people being tested are going to get a spot in the program. Remember, the TEAS V is much harder than the TEAS 3 and 4. The average score, nationally, is like 66%. Only like 5%-10% score over 85. The few individuals that are able to score that high won't need extra points anyway.
I was surprised that the actual test was nothing like the practice ones in the ATI study manual. The test material was completely different from the study material. I did over 90% in each of the last three sections, but the first Reading/English section was a bit strange. It took my overall score down considerably. It seems as though Sairybear had the same problem. Our score was similar. Good luck to all... I think we'll make it over this last hurdle.
wow is this is a new requirement for the nursing program of el camino. good luck to u guys. i just finished my lvn program and hopefully ill get in to an RN program somewhere at east LA or mt. st. mary next year. piece of advice study hard or while doing the nursing program at el camino make sure you guys have a plan B. that program is really hard. i just got kicked out of the program 2 yrs ago, got depress and got back on track by signing up for an LVN program. i failed and its not that i wasn't studying hard. its really really really hard. If ur working full time quit it or make it down to part time. the program is too stressful. some of u guys who r not in the program my suggestion would be do LVN first then go back to RN school while ur prereqs are still fresh believe me that's the smartest thing to do right now because if something happens especially when u guys fail the second time u guys will have a hard time looking for schools. im not trying to discourage anyone of u whose trying to be in the program. people ridicule me because im doing LVN and they doing RN prereqs and they asked me how come i just didnt go str8 to RN lol well i told them i just came from the RN program and i failed. so guys always play safe or have a plan B whenever u guys go to a community college program. thnks and good luck

For those of you about to take the TEAS: study, study, study! I took it last semester in April without studying and OMG! There are things in there that you never touched on in chemistry, biology, etc. The hardest parts were the science and math.
I'm in first semester and got my acceptance letter about a month before the end of spring semester. They accepted 46 students that time around so IDK how many will get in next time. I think I had about 46 or 47 points before taking the TEAS and I got in the first time I applied. I think as long as your GPA is good and you got As & Bs in your sciences you'll be fine.
Good luck!
