I was one of very fortunate people that got in, and I have a quick question about N48. Is Dosage Calculations a requirement or did I hear it mentioned that you should take it if you think you need it?

congratulations!! I will be applying in fall 2010. I don't know if the point system" applies to you..if it did then nursing 48 is required. It can be in process.
However, if the multi screening" system or point system didn't apply to you then it's "recommended".
It sucks that now its mandatory.
You're going to apply at ECC? Where else? There's always rumors about the process; the last I heard was that they are adopting a lottery system as well. It sometimes seem like even the counselors don't really know what's going on. A friend and I applied at the same time, but she didn't get in. She wasn't invited to take the TEAS test. Fortunately for her, she got lucky and got in at Harbor for Spring 2010.
The reason I asked about N48 is because I just looked back at the TEAS invitation because somebody on the board asked about the email, and I noticed that they do require it. I do, however, recall someone mentioning during the orientation that it's not required but you should take it if you feel that you need it. I guess I should just ask them directly, but I don't want to feel like I wasn't listening...lol.
Ya I am going to apply to ECC and harbor I guess. You're right, there are SO many rumors. adopting lottery system? haha wow..
yeah ask them directly, because you already got accepted and I am sure they have already checked you off for completing all the requirements.
If you don't mind me asking, do you know if they were applying the point system to your application or they had the wait list process that time.
I think it was just the waiting list, and there were rumors they were trying to get rid of the list. I have never heard of the point system before.
o they got rid of the waiting list. Now everything is based on your grades (science grades, and over all, volunteer work etc. there is no waiting list, if you don't get it, you have to re-apply. They have changed a lot of things, now we have to take nursing 48 (it is a requirement for us)
Wow. That sucks. Hopefully, you get in your first try.
yeah I hope so too. :)

Congrats on your acceptance it's great to finally get to start after taking all the pre-reqs. If you have time to take 48 dosing calculations I would recommend it for a couple reasons. First, of all there is a mandatory math test given twice each semester and if you miss more than two questions your stopped out of the program. Therefore if you don't love math or feel really confident in your math abilities take the class. Second, the class will introduce you to the department and staff which will help once you start full time. You should also try and take pharm, and human growth and development if your stuck on a waitlist I've heard it makes the semester way easier.
