EKG Classes in Arizona

Published

:heartbeatI am a new grad nurse who is struggling with EKGs. My work is not willing to pay for or provide EKG training, but I am willing to pay for it myself. Here's the problem...I don't know where to go. Does anyone know of some good schools providing thorough EKG training/certification? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. :heartbeat

For starters, I recommend the book, Rapid Interpretation of EKG's, Sixth Edition by Dale Dubin. You can find it at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Rapid-Interpretation-EKGs-Sixth-Dubin/dp/0912912065

EKGs Made Easy by Barbara Aehlert Get the set with the book and the pocket reference...pocket reference is

great to have at work, but it will get lifted if you leave it unattended. :heartbeat

I just finished a course (NCE214CA) at Gateway C.C. It was 1 day/wk for 4 weeks. Each class was 4 hours long. I think they repeat the course about every 8 weeks. I highly recommend this class. You get a good understanding of the cardiovascular system and won't just be memorizing EKG patterns.

Good luck.

I took Gateway's EKG class 2 years ago and HIGHLY recommend it. The books are great, but being in the class room environment taught me so much. I forgot the name of the teacher, but I've taken other classes from her and she is great!
