Hello EFSC August 2014 hopefuls!! Getting close to getting our letters back! Best of luck to all applicants. Just thought a place to swap stories and meet possible program friends would be helpful and fun.

ANgchick03 did too! What's your name....wildthng

?

Thats great that she got in! Im Christopher Wild. You?

I am Jess Denzer :)..nice to meet you. We have a ton of stuff to do in so little time!

I know! I've already started with a bunch of the scheduling; the first semester book list is huge!

Hey guys... just checking in to see how everyone is coming along with nursing school preparations? Still so much to do!

Hey Jess,

I've completed all of the certified profile stuff minus the flu shot and CPR recertification. I have purchased slightly older edition textbooks for the majority of our future classes (I've heard this is okay to do, but beware as some things change between editions and instructors will not cater to old textbooks), and will be purchasing uniforms within the next two weeks :)

And have purchased a stethoscope, pen light, scissors and BP cuff from Amazon.

Hello again Christopher,

I am in the same boat. I have all my stuff certified profile minus the cpr and flu shot. I bought my uniforms already and have a few books but not all of them. I plan on buying my things through amazon too. Which stethoscope did you buy? I like the Littman cardiac 3. I've heard to buy a suitcase for lugging our books around. Haven't got that yet. I'm getting excited. Have you met or do you know any other people who got in ? I only know you and Angela my good friend who also got in. Can't wait to meet everyone. Feel free to find me on Facebook. .. Jess Denzer :)

Hi All! :) I was accepted into the program as well! I am almost done with my certified profile stuff - just have to go and get the TB test done. Renewed my CPR certificate at the class on Wednesday, so thankfully that is out of the way! Everyone in the class was there for the nursing program and they all seem really nice! The stethoscope I got was the Littmann Classic II- my sister is a nurse and said it is the best choice for nursing school! I am buying my uniforms this weekend....Jess, do they fit well? A friend of mine that just graduated said the polo's are a little short, so I was curious. I've started shopping for books as well, and I have found some that are cheaper on Chegg than Amazon, so definitely keep that in mind! And I believe the package that is only available at EFSC is cheaper than buying all the books separate on any website. I've heard the suitcase for books thing as well....thinking of getting that as well. Have either of y'all found a good watch to use yet?? I have been on the hunt and haven't found one that I like yet. Or shoes?? See you at orientation in a month!!!! So excited!

I've met other people now, after having gone to the CPR certification course - although nobody that I spoke with gave me their name, haha. The stethoscope I chose was the ADC 601 convertible - it had very good reviews regarding comfortability and acoustics, in addition to being a bit cheaper than a really nice Littmann.

Hey SRG, were you the one I spoke to at the CPR class - the one who parked next to me? Ive found a good, cheap men's watch that might work for you ladies as well.

Yes, that was me!!!! :) haha everyone in that class seemed so shy & quite! I've heard good things about that stethoscope, as well - mine was a gift so luckily that was some money I saved! Add me on facebook - Stephanie Gardner. I am going to make a group for everyone to join so when school starts we can reference and meet up to study and what not. and where did you find your watch?
