EEEKKKK .....3 days before NCEX RN

Published

Ok....It is down to the wire, I am taking my exam on Saturday morning. I have done well in school, I have taken the Kaplan review my readiness was 71, but my qbank average is holding around 61. I go to classes for work, and I seem to know what the teacher is going to say before she even says it, but when I come home and do NCLEX questions I get so discouraged when I do not do well. EEEEKKKKK...that pretty much sums it up on how I feel. I have been all over the place in my studies, Kaplan, Davis, ATI, exam cram. Nothing is making me feel like I am anywhere near ready. When I talked to my instructor and the manager from Kaplan, they express that they believe I am definatly ready to go. I have kept in touch with a couple of my instructors from school, they say the same. I have been so lucky to have been hired at the hospital of choice, who is now on a hire freeze, so if I am not successful, I loose my job, and many classmates who I graduated with in May cannot even get interviews. It is basically do or die for me at this point, lol. I have been reading alot of posts on here the past few days, it has seemed to help a bit, I wanted to add this because I know many of us feel this way. And whenever I talk about this to anyone not going through this they blow me off and say stop worrying you will be fine. They have NO idea. I have also heard that the questions are alot like Qbanks and other prep questions, then the answer commenly right on our practice tests are not a choice, nor is there one simular. AHHHH I have been mainly doing questions and questions and questions. Did I do the wrong thing? Should I have been mainly going over material instead?!?! Sorry guys that is so long. I had to get it out, I would love some feedback and to hear your stories as well. Good luck to everyone preparing for this exam!!!

All I know is Davis makes me feel like crap!! I just took the Kaplan CD test that comes with their strategy book and got a 69.... which is better than what I get with Davis, so I guess I"m happy with it!!

Hang in there. It'll be over before you know it and you'll be an RN! I'm starting to wonder if these practice exams are harder than the real thing.

i am in the same position...my job is at the dream hospital and if i dont pass, i loose the job! i took the nclex on 6/29, got 75 questions, and got the good pop up! i feel great after taking the test and really feel like i passed. i did kaplan and feel like it really prepared me. yes on the nclex you will be looking for the right answer and it wont be there...but kaplan teaches you how to make the best educated guess. you will definitely use that skill on the nclex. all i did was practice questions...4000 of them! the more stuff you see and the more time you spend doing questions helps a lot! you will be so used to it, that nothing on the test will seem shocking. the test was exactly what i expected it to be. if i were you..i would use the pressure in a positive way (to keep studying) and not let it freak you out! this test determined a lot for me and probably everyone on here, so we are all here for you because we are all in it together!!! good luck and keep studying with the practice questions! thats the best advice i have! :)

I only did practice questions before taking my exam last week. I did over 4000 questions from different sources in the space of 5 weeks. However, the last 2 days before my exam I looked at my class notes for a few hours each day. I didn't want to spend money on any review book. It might be a good idea to review contact/airbourne precautions etc, and pediatric immunization schedule. It's a good idea to not take too much time on each question when taking the test. Maybe 1 min/question at most. I passed with 75 questions in 1 hour.

I'm sorry but don't mean to belittle your post but you're making something out of nothing. Buckle down and take the test, 71% on readiness? You beat like 90% of the kids who take that thing and probably already passed.

I primarily used only Kaplan and read OB Saunders only. NCLEX is on the same level of Kaplan. The only thing that makes is "hard" if you can't answer medication questions.

Good luck, not that you'd need it, you'll pass.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement, I am gonna go through a little material, and go onto CDC site just to review. And after tonight, I am done...going to heed the advice of an instructor and stop my reviewing and testing, and relax, eat, and sleep until saturday. Good luck to everyone!!!

I'm in almost the same boat as you. Taking the test on Saturday morning but when I take my practice exams I am scoring a consistent 65% (using Saunders...I got an 80 on a lippincott test but the questions were pretty easy and I have heard it is not the best review book ever). I wasn't able to take the Kaplan course because the hospital I am working at stopped paying for it (this year of course) and the fees for the exam/license literally emptied my bank account. Even though I did very well in school (mostly A's, some B's while working), the NCLEX is nothing like school exams as much as they tried to prepare us. I've been told that I should be getting 80's on my practice exams before I take the test, so trust me, you are not the only person freaking out right now!
